When the Flood Comes - The Spirit's Counter-Attack

ree

Have you ever felt it? That overwhelming sense that the enemy is coming in like a flood. It’s not a slow trickle of opposition; it’s a sudden, violent torrent. It’s a diagnosis that shakes your world, a financial pressure that threatens to drown your peace, a wave of fear or anxiety that crashes over you in the middle of the night, or a confusion that muddies everything you thought was clear.

In those moments, our natural instinct is to panic, to tread water, to try and build our own feeble levees of control and self-preservation. We feel like we’re going under. But what if God’s strategy for the flood isn’t for you to swim harder? What if it’s for you to command the wind?

In our latest powerful episode of the Lion Roars from Zion podcast, we dive into one of the most dynamic promises in Scripture—a verse that contains a nuclear counter-offensive hidden within its translation.

“So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun; when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.” (Isaiah 59:19, NKJV)

For years, many of us have pictured God calmly planting a flag on the battlefield. But that’s not the full picture. The Hebrew language reveals a far more violent and victorious reality.

The Standard Isn't a Flag—It’s a Hurricane Force

The word translated “lift up a standard” comes from the Hebrew word nuws, which means to flee, to put to flight, to chase, or to cause to be terrified. The Aramaic translation paints the Messiah as a “rushing stream which the wind of the Lord drives.”

Do you see it? The imagery isn’t passive. When the enemy’s floodwaters rise, the Breath of Heaven rises up higher. The Wind of the Spirit (Ruarach) blows with a force that doesn’t just stop the flood—it drives it back, scatters it, and blows the enemy clean away!

This is the consistent testimony of God’s nature:

· He blew with His wind to part the Red Sea and drown Pharaoh’s army (Exodus 15:10). · He will strike the earth with the rod of His mouth and slay the wicked with the breath of His lips (Isaiah 11:4). · Jesus will consume the lawless one with the breath of His mouth (2 Thessalonians 2:8).

God’s ultimate weapon is His Word, released by His Breath—the Holy Spirit. And that same Spirit lives in you.

How to Partner with God’s Counter-Attack

This podcast episode isn’t just theological theory; it’s a battle plan. We break down how you can move from being a victim of the flood to a vessel of the divine wind.

  1. Understand the Battle: The flood is chaotic and destructive, but the Standard is a Person—the Lord Jesus Christ. His finished work on the cross is the banner over you.

  2. Wield Your Weapon: Your tongue, empowered by the Holy Spirit, is the rod of authority. You give the Spirit something to anoint when you declare God’s Word (Logos) in faith, making it a now-word (Rhema) for your situation.

  3. Assume Your Posture: Your position is one of intimate worship and faith-filled proclamation. You hear God’s voice before the battle so you can declare His Word in the battle.

Ready to See the Wind Blow?

This episode is a call to arms. It’s a passionate, Scripture-rich teaching that will build your faith, stir your spirit, and equip you to stand in the day of battle.

We end with a powerful, prophetic activation—a declaration you can pray out loud to command the flood to part in your life and to release the Wind of God to drive back the enemy.

You don’t have to fear the flood. You carry the Hurricane.
